I was a bit skeptical when I first read about this new feature, but after using 2015 for a few days I really like the visual feedback when editing geometry with the drawing.įigure 11: the erase command shows a red X cursor badgeįigure 10: the copy cursor badge is shown when copying an object Similarly, when you are copying an object, you will see a small copy icon next to the cursor this is also available with most of the selection or editing commands. For instance, when you are erasing objects, you will see a small red X appear next to the cross hairs. When working with many of the common editing commands, the cursor now displays small icons that give you a visual reference as to the state of the current command. Before you actually click and select the objects, you will also get previews of Fillet, Chamfer and Offset operations which is rather handy.įigure 8: the fillet command now shows a preview of the editįigure 9: the trim command greys out the lines that are about to be trimmed when they are selected The option works with the Trim, Extend, Lengthen, Break and Match properties commands. There is now a new command preview option that can be set from the Options > Selection Tab within the options box. I suspect this is a hint from Autodesk to embrace the ribbon and one I would agree with, as there are many productivity gains to be had using the ribbon interface in AutoCAD.
It’s worth pointing out that, although the classic workspace option has been removed, you can still switch on your old style toolbars and indeed you can import your classic workspace form a previous version. They can of course be switched back on, but you can also control the workspaces from the cog icon in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.įigure 7: Workspace options in the status bar
By default, the workspace options have been switched off in the quick access tool bar at the top of the screen.
